On 16th December the North London Waste Authority board, including Camden councillors Adam Harrison and Richard Olszewski, voted to award the construction contract of the Edmonton Incinerator to the Spanish company Acciona.
CEC has made many previous representations to the Council about the serious flaws with the current plans, and joined protestors from the 7 north London Boroughs on the doorstep of Camden’s Crowndale Centre where the meeting was taking place.
Deputation to Full Council 22nd November 2021

Climate Emergency Camden has written a number of letters to the Camden New Journal:
Incineration should be phased out 18th November 2021
Let’s see a circular economy task force 14th January 2022
CEC has also written to highlight the apparent conflict of interest that exists due to the fact that Cllr Loakes is a director of London Energy Ltd, which is commissioned by the North London Waste Authority to run the Edmonton Incinerator, and has a large interest in making profits out of ‘Energy from Waste’, rather than better management of resources.
Stop the Edmonton incinerator now (StEIN) have engaged solicitors to mount a legal challenge against the North London Waste Authority contracting Acciona for the Edmonton Incinerator rebuild. A crowdfund has been launched to fund this.
