Climate Emergency Camden is a signatory to a letter to the Spain-based company ACCIONA, the only remaining bidder in the North London Waste Authority’s tender process for the construction of the planned Edmonton incinerator. The letter calls on the company to withdraw its bid from the process, in line with its own sustainability commitments.
The French company CNIM pulled out of the process. The trade outlet ENDS reported in March that CNIM was ‘only “nominally” involved in the bidding process to give the project three potential winners and would prefer not to win the deal after suffering financial issues with a series of other EfW builds.’ Switzerland-based multinational Hitachi Zosen Inova (HZI) has formed a consortium with ACCIONA and is thus no longer bidding on its own, as the bid is under ACCIONA’s name.
