Deputations on the Edmonton Incinerator and Trees

CEC has joined forces with XR Camden, Canopy Coalition and BARA (Bartholomew Road Residents Association) to make two deputations to Camden Council’s Culture and Environment Scrutiny Committee, chaired by Cllr. Awale Olad. view here. Tania gave a detailed and irrefutable explanation of why building a new waste incinerator in Edmonton would be extremely damaging for the environment and counter to Camden’s efforts to reduce GHG emissions, and asked Camden Council to decisively change course (see pdf below). Harvey welcomed Camden’s new Tree Planting Strategy, but asked for a review of routine pollarding and for more resources for tree planting, which are both critical for addressing the climate and ecological emergency.
