Refurbishment and retrofitting of existing buildings is of vital importance to reduce carbon emissions caused by construction. CEC’s Built Environment Group has sent an open letter to the Scrutiny Panel looking into Camden Council’s Community Investment Programme, calling on the Council to prioritise refurbishment and retrofitting of their estate over demolition and rebuilding. This follows the lead provided by other cities and countries around the world seeking to make the drastic cut in carbon emissions that we urgently need to make.
